My history with JReviews dates back to Dec 2008 with the purchasing of our first license. Very rarely do I find a $200 Web Software solution, that after deployment, still has me scratching my head trying to figure out what more can it be used for.

JReviews has the capabilities, support, documentation and features you would expect from an enterprise-class solution after a heavy financial investment.

This is software that demand attention in two critical areas. An immaculate business plan and an appetite for creativity. The software is flexible, very much so, that without an exact idea what you want to use it for, will have you over-configuring it for a simple website or under-utilizing its massive range of features and options.

JReviews has a particular technical strength, its ability to be dynamic and versatile. Listings can relate to each or be associated to criteria within the review of another listing. The listings will appear based on what you’ve determined to be critical in a decision-making process…see what I mean?.....it gets hairy.

Although the software is cited by the creator as a directory and review solution, it can be used for something as simple as a blog. You can add have reviews for articles, make those articles into recommended articles based on the input from others, the applications are endless.

The team behind the software consistently adds new features, but streamlining previous additions, allowing you to grow with the solution, a necessary element since it’s such an involved solution.

Another great element is the fantastic support, irrespective of the time zone difference of 6-7 hours. I’ve raised my questions early morning my time and a response with a solution pops up hours later.

A true challenge for anyone wanting to use JReviews is the tough decision: “Am I going to use all of it or some of it?”

The solution comes pre-equipped with the Rapid Launcher, allowing the seamless import of some or all of the demo directories. This allows good insight into the setup and configurations of a good system. From here you can delete listings and further improve on the configuration to suite your needs.

JReviews takes great advantage of Joomla and Wordpress in that it will work with the posts/articles, since the listings are the posts and articles. Styling and display optimization is inherited but customizations are taken care of inside JReviews through an overrides features. In this way, changes are not overwritten with updates of the software.

On a final note, if you desire even more complexity, you can make use of the various custom parameters to use the system’s ability in generating a rich and informed user-experience.

JReviews is well-documented, it is well-supported and it requires time to set up all depending on how fully you want to use the software. Not a penny is wasted on JReviews if you have the time and creativity to use it well…….everything in this review is possible without changing a single line of code.

This is what I call a perfect plugin.

I am a professional web developer and use tons of plugins on a daily basis. I have been using JReviews for almost 10 years for multiple smaller sites, mostly for some private projects. Now I am again working on a bigger project and need a review script. Many times before, and again over time, I was searching testing review scripts.... I always end up with JReviews.

I only had to contact the support couple of times over the years, and the ultra fast and perfect response time didn't change over time. This is what support should look like!

JReviews is so well-thought-out for its use cases with endless configuration possibilities that allows you to do just anything. Nothing else compares to this, and there is not much missing. If its still not enough, and you need deeper tweaks in the code or templates then this is also designed perfectly. The system is built robust and in a manner that lets you change things without having to be afraid to break other things if you follow the rules. Again: Fantastic.

New features are added constantly and the development process is always up to date, no lagging behind.

Not really too relevant, but there could be more templates available. I understand the "Why" but as a Dev I don't like IONCube encoded scripts...

Again, after years I still think this is one of the most complex, robust and functionally perfect solutions for review sites.

My number 1 Pick, far ahead of competition.

From the first moment several years ago that I identified the need to have comprehensive reviews functionality integrated into some of our websites, and my technical assistant researched and recommended JReviews for this purpose, I have never had any reason to regret my choice or to contemplate any alternatives. The basis of this verdict is that:

a) the original functionality provided by JReviews was so conspicuously superior to anything else on the market
b) some features that I suggested would further enhance the product have been carefully considered by Alejandro and added to the original product, essentially making what was an already exceptional product virtually perfect
c) whenever I have configuration or integration issues, Alejandro or one of his team responds swiftly and communicates the solution clearly in terms that a non-technically trained person such as I am, is usually reasonably well capable of understanding
d) whereas I used to find Joomla very awkward and non-user intuitive to use in comparison with Wordpress, and yet nonetheless persevered with JReviews in spite of the fact that I was required to run Joomla sites purely to satisfy the one criterion of having a site that was compatible with the world's best reviews software, the fact that Alejandro has since developed a Wordpress plugin now makes our work vastly less onerous

I continue to be extremely grateful that the product exists and hope it will continue to be maintained and developed indefinitely.

If you are looking for a review solution or a city guide, as was my case, you don't need to look any further. JReviews is a complete and comprehensive solution that is really customizable and with one of the best support teams I ever met (and I have worked with a lot of extension developers).

If you are a Wordpress user maybe this was a show stopper before, but now they provide the same solution both for Joomla and Wordpress. (I recommend Joomla, but not because of this extension because it is identical on both platforms).

The extension is so big and with so many options that I can't say it is super easy to setup. However, the documentation is clear and the support is helpful. Once you understand the concept and the structure the learning curve can be quickly overcome.

I have without a doubt had a better experience with JReviews than any other Joomla component.

This is an exceptionally robust & dynamic component. The online systems & value it creates on your website is really unmatched.

The support is unmatched, the component's developers know it inside & out. All support tickets & forum posts are answered within 24 hours & sometimes a lot sooner. Its also really well documented. Its ratings & review ability is unmatched, the Google maps API integration is awesome also, along with the paid listings addon!

I’m using Jreviews since 2006 on a couple of site, I'll never change it for another similar component.
